The trigger for change
Consumers' demands, Corporate Social Responsibility and other trends have created the urgency to develop more transparent, sustainable production and trade systems. The global Fairtrade market has doubled over the last three years, new trade standards have been developed, the organic market continues to grow. These changes create new opportunities for companies to position themselves and for producers in developing countries to get access to new markets.
FairMatch Support promotes and stimulates more sustainable and fair trade. We fill in the missing link in the relationship between (small-scale) producers or Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in developing countries and (European) end markets.
We identify value chains that can be an important example to make a sector more sustainable and fair. They can trigger positive change towards increasing welfare of small producers and workers in a specific sector.
A fair match between producers and markets
We challenge key market actors to start improving specific chains. We then mobilise all actors in a chain, bring them together and coordinate the implementation of these programmes. Where necessary, we organise the necessary support throughout the whole supply chain. The end result is an effective and fair value chain.
We also assist companies with the conversion of their supply chains to adhere to codes or certifications that promote environmentally friendly production and trade that is fair to all parties involved.
FairMatch Support: a ‘one stop shop’
FairMatch Support operates in a network. Our partners in developing countries analyse local value chains and coach producer organisations, plantations, processing factories, etcetera, while FairMatch Support carries out all activities in the West. In addition, we also use independent consultants for specific tasks. This is a unique concept, in which way we make optimum use of each other’s added value.
FairMatch Support is a spider in the web and a ‘one stop shop’ for supply chain development.
